Visit a cave.
There are 4 caves in Margaret River – Lake Cave (most challenging), Ngiligi Cave, Jewel Cave and Mammoth Cave. We did the Mammoth Cave as it’s a self-guided cave and most suitable for our little beans. We walked through the majestic chambers of the cave and it with a winding walk through a beautiful marri forest. The marri forest is currently regenerating and reinventing itself following recent fires. The trail is lined with new growth and flourishing green foliage climbs the trunks of the towering trees. Mammoth Cave is much more than a cave – it is a complete nature experience. Our 3.5 years old little bean managed to complete the 540 steps independently.

Dunsborough
Dunsborough is a great base to explore Cape Natualiste’s pristine beaches, walking trails, and lighthouse. Witness the spectacular seascape views across the Indian Ocean and up and down the remote coastline at Canal Rocks. Visit the Cape Naturaliste lighthouse and Sugarloaf Rock to watch the sunset. It’s also an excellent whale watching destination between September and December. Have lunch at Meelup Farmhouse(do reserve as it’s really popular!)

Pemberton
We joined Pemberton Discovery Tour on a Beach & Forest Eco Adventure where we get to discover the hidden treasures of Pemberton beach and gain access to the Warren and D’Entrecasteaux National Park, which is usually inaccessible to conventional vehicles and hire cars. Travel through the stunning Landlocked Yeagarup Dunes, walking through the old growth Karri Forest where we get to see the world 3rd tallest trees, and make our way to the mouth of the Warren River, where it meets the Southern Ocean. The kids enjoyed the bumpy ride as though they were on a roller coaster! Don’t forget to make a trip to the Southern Forests Chocolate Company for a dessert treat or a hot chocolate after the tour.

①⓪ Visit a winery

A journey through Margaret River’s 90+ cellar doors is sophisticated yet relaxed, authentic and unique. Meandering from cellar door to cellar door is easy and spectacular with vistas of farmland, wine country and the coast. Here’s a few of our recommendations:

Cape Mentelle

Walsh & Sons

Leeuwin Estate

Swing &Roundabouts

Aravina Estate

①① Yallingup Maze and Mini Golf

The only timber maze in the Margaret River region. They have a new 18 hold mini golf course, outdoor mazes, nature play areas, an indoor puzzle café where you can play with puzzles for free all day and heaps of other fascinating things to do. It’s a perfect place to chill out on a wet day.

①② Visit the iconic landmarks of Perth

Blue Boat House – A good place to capture some great moments for individual or family shoots against the backdrop, especially early in the morning or before the sunset sets. Park across the blue boat and do not leaves any valuables in the car even though it is a short trip to take a few shots.

Matagarup Bridge Zip +Climb – Look for some thrill in your trip? Climb, shimmy and slide past the bridge beams to reach the SkyView – an open-air viewing platform 72 metres above the river. Walk down or go large and zip back to home base travelling at up to 75km/hr. Min: Height – 122cm | Weight – 30kg | Age – 8yrs

We took photos at the bridge and cheered on those who were doing the zipline as our little beans are below 8 years old.

Fremantle Market – Only available on Fri – Sun, step inside the Fremantle Markets and enjoy the distinctive atmosphere of over a hundred years of vibrant culture and heritage. Check out our favourite Honeycake and Morish Nuts. You can also find fresh fruits and vegetables!
