The Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum is Singapore's first and only natural history museum!

The exhibition gallery is divided into two levels: The main Biodiversity Gallery on the lower first floor and the Heritage Gallery on the mezzanine floor.

The main Biodiversity Gallery comprises 15 different thematic zones from plants and amphibians to mammals and dinosaurs!

The museum has over 2,000 natural history specimens on display!

A model of the world's largest flower, the Rafflesia Arnoldii, in the Plants zone.

Prince, Apollonia and Twinky, three 150-million-year-old diplodocid sauropod dinosaur skeletons (more than 80% complete), located in the Dinosaurs zone, are the stars of the museum's main gallery!

The Dinosaur zone also displays a Dinosaur Light Show that comes with flashing lights and sound effects every half-hourly!

The Dodo bird - The genuine Dodo bones are on loan from the Oxford University Museum of Natural History. The bird went extinct due to hunting by humans, interference from domesticated animals and competition from invasive species.

Over at the Reptiles zone, you will see specimens of various types of snakes. Spot the King Cobra that was found at the Singapore Country Club in 2002!

Kaiser is a Saltwater Crocodile that was donated to the Museum in May 2017 by the Singapore Zoo. It is estimated that he was 40 years old when he died in April 2007.
Upon death, Kaiser’s skin underwent taxidermy treatment to preserve the body and was stuffed with tightly packed textiles, which made him ‘weigh’ around one tonne! His actual weight at death was recorded as 515 kg.

In the Arthropods zone, you will get to see a specimen of the world's largest crab - the Japanese Spider Crab, right down to the world's smallest crab - the Coral Spider Crab.

The Birds zone - The bird collection was started as early as 1840 at the Raffles Museum. As in the case of mammals, the collection then depended mainly on donations and purchases.

The Marine Cycles and Fish Zones - Here you can see various kinds of marine life including specimens of fish, crabs, lobsters and corals!

The Mammals zone is the largest zone in the Biodiversity Gallery. You will find many life-like taxidermied specimens on display here!

Jubilee, the Singapore Sperm Whale specimen, is the highlight at the Mammals zone. This 10.6m long female was found dead off Jurong Island on 10 July 2015. The first record of a sperm whale in Singapore!

An elephant skull and skeletons of a dugong are also on display!

Venture further into the L-shaped zone to view a side-by-side comparison of a human and an ape skeleton!

Heritage Gallery - The mezzanine floor, just a flight of steps away, is dedicated to the Heritage Gallery. It showcases Singapore's history of biodiversity exploration, pioneers of the nature scene here and a section called "Singapore Today" presents a summary of the geology of the island and the conservation work being undertaken in the Republic.
