Bird Paradise
At-A-Glance
Main Highlights
Entrance: It’s amazing the entrance of our destination is a highlight in itself… but it is! For those who haven’t been to Mandai for some time, you will notice that it’s been completely revamped. A 10m high waterfall will greet you, along with a 80+m archway at the entrance – carved in with different animals!
8 walk-through aviaries: They take you around the world – Heart of Africa, Wings of Asia, Crimson Wetlands, Amazonian Jewels, Songs of the Forest, Mysterious Papua, Australian Outback, Lory Loft. One of our highlights include the waterfall aviary at Crimson Wetlands (backdrop from Jurong Bird Park)
Animal presentation @ Sky Amphitheatre: 2 shows, must-watch – Predators on Wings (10am, 2.30pm) and Wings of the World (12.30pm, 5pm)
Bird feeding: Sign up ahead of time (from S$8) where you can get up close with Pelicans, Hornbills, Barbets, and Starlings. For the little Beans, you can head to Lory Loft to feed Lories and Lorikeets (just like Melbourne!) and the keepers will pass us some nectar to feed these little birds. Find the Pelicans at Wings of Asia (10am), Lories/Lorikeets at Lory Loft (11am, 3.30pm), and African Birds at Heart of Africa (9.30am, 2pm)
F&B: When the weather gets too hot, head to Penguin Cove for a short break (and a meal!) Two options available – cafe overlooking the “Arctic” or a restaurant below where we can see penguins diving underwater. There are few other F&B options too around the Park (e.g., Food Central at Central Plaza, Egg Splash Café, Crimson Restaurant, Bird Bakery at the entrance)
In-park shuttle: Lots of ground to cover – so hop on a shuttle. It’s complimentary and it travels between the Entrance and Central Plaza (wheelchair friendly too). Last shuttle timings at 5.30pm and 6pm for Stations 1 and 2 respectively
Rental: Bring your own pram (space available to park them for shows). Alternatively, rentals available too – trikes (S$18), wagons (S$18) and wheelchairs (complimentary)
New playground: Not in the park (so there is no entrance fee) – Mandai Wildlife West is directly connected to Bird Paradise and offers 2 play areas: Pangolin Adventure and Pangolin Hideout for the little Beans to run around. Since it’s tucked right in the Mandai “forest”, guess what – it’s theme is… rainforest!
